Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms renews its firm and supportive position regarding the Palestinian people’s right to reclaim their land and end the occupation, coinciding with the 78th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba, which remains one of the most enduring humanitarian and political tragedies of the modern era.
The organization commends the commemoration of the 78th anniversary of the Nakba by the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, aimed at continuing to draw attention to this tragic historical event and the ongoing suffering endured by the Palestinian people. This commemoration comes in implementation of the mandate issued by the United Nations General Assembly under the resolution adopted on November 30, 2022, with the anniversary having been officially commemorated for the first time in 2023.
Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms affirms that the Nakba is not merely a passing historical memory, but an ongoing humanitarian tragedy representing the world’s longest unresolved refugee crisis without a just and fair solution. Millions of Palestinians continue to suffer from displacement, deprivation, and violations of their fundamental rights amid the ongoing Israeli occupation and policies of settlement expansion and repression.
The organization further stresses that the Palestinian people’s right to resist the Israeli occupation, liberate their land, and restore their legitimate rights — foremost among them the right to self-determination and the right of return for refugees — are rights guaranteed under international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms also calls on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to uphold their legal and moral responsibilities toward the genocide crimes and ongoing violations committed against the Palestinian people, and to take serious action to end the Israeli occupation, achieve justice, and guarantee the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
