The Ministry of Health in the Sana’a-based government announced on Friday that the death toll from the Israeli airstrikes that targeted the Yemeni capital on Thursday has risen.
In a statement, the ministry said the number of victims had increased to 183, including both the dead and injured, the majority of whom are women and children, noting that the toll remains preliminary.
According to the statement, the victims include nine fatalities—among them four children and two women—while the number of wounded has reached 174, including 59 children and 35 women.
The ministry added that civil defense and ambulance teams continue search and rescue operations, recovering victims from under the rubble in the neighborhoods hit by the strikes.
Israeli warplanes had launched intensive air raids on several residential neighborhoods in the capital Sana’a, causing the destruction of homes and widespread damage to civilian property.
